This past June, Anna Nicole Smith traveled to Omaha, Nebraska to take part in a special “Celebrity Weekend” fundraiser. However, instead of a star-studded gala with posh hotel accommodations, this particular event was held at a summer camp, and called for flip-flops and bug spray.
Celebrity Weekend is a major fundraiser benefiting Camp Kindle, a non-profit organization that supports children and families dealing with HIV or AIDs. In addition to the camp’s mission of providing a fun, relaxing getaway, campers who are invited to Camp Kindle will travel and stay at no cost to themselves.
Anna
brought her fun-loving spirit to the highly-anticipated event, delighting
children and adults with her antics and positive attitude. With
Howard, Kimmie and her dogs in tow, everyone enjoyed getting to
know some of the brave families who have been affected by HIV and
AIDs. Nighttime activities guests participated in included Celebrity
Karaoke, live and silent auctions, autographs and photo opportunities.
At the close of the event, Anna donated an evening dress she had worn during Celebrity Weekend to Camp Kindle. The dress is worth $10,000 and will be auctioned off on Ebay to further benefit the camp’s fundraising efforts.
Anna’s affiliation with TrimSpa also benefited the fundraiser. The official TrimSpa tour bus came to Camp Kindle, and at the close of the weekend TrimSpa made a donation of their own to help support the organization.
A camera crew from E! Entertainment Television network tagged along during Anna’s adventures at camp, catching candid moments of her and the kids swimming, playing games and competing in a talent show. Footage from the event was later complied into a hour-long show for E!, “Anna Goes to Camp,” which premiered on October 17.
The Celebrity Weekend event was a major success, raising over $41,000
